Heidelberg Materials Malaysia Opens Its Third Operation in Langkawi: A New Quarry

Heidelberg Materials Malaysia marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its newest quarry on the island of Langkawi, strengthening its commitment to sustainable development, local partnership, and secure supply chains in the region. 

At the opening ceremony, the event highlighted the strategic importance of this third operation in Langkawi, an island renowned for its natural beauty and steady economic growth. The establishment of this quarry underscores Heidelberg Materials dedication to supporting local infrastructure development while ensuring consistent and reliable access to high quality construction materials. 

A Journey of Collaboration and Determination 

The quarry project began in 2023, when Heidelberg Materials explored the opportunity with landowner Syarikat Hosna. Key discussions were initiated by Regional General Manager Mr. Chong, whose team worked through various challenges, from compliance to permits and till make this project possible. 

Supporting Langkawi’s Growth 

As Langkawi continues to grow in 2026, the new quarry will support essential infrastructure such as roads, homes, and tourism facilities. Producing aggregates locally reduces reliance on imports, lowers costs, and minimizes environmental impact which reflecting Heidelberg Materials’ commitment to sustainability. 

Built on Three Core Pillars 

The operations of the new quarry reflect the company’s steadfast focus on three key pillars:
